ShareWeaver Rules & Terms

ShareWeaver helps neighbors value, list, buy, sell and trade used items and local services. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these rules. If you don’t agree, please don’t use ShareWeaver.

How we handle your information: Privacy.

1. Who can use ShareWeaver

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• Use your own real email and phone number, and keep one account per person.
• You are responsible for everything posted from your account.

2. Items you can list

You can list used or new items you own and have the right to sell or trade, such as tools, clothing, electronics, furniture, vehicles and parts, RVs, home goods, outdoor gear and collectibles.

• Describe items honestly, including condition, age and known problems.
• Use photos of the actual item.
• Only list items that are available now, and mark them sold or traded when they’re gone.

3. Services you can offer

You may advertise honest, legal services you perform yourself, and you may offer or accept services as part of a trade (for example, “will trade two hours of lawn mowing for your pressure washer”).

Examples of allowed services

• Lawn care, yard work, snow and leaf removal
• Handyman work, assembly, painting, small repairs
• Cleaning, hauling, moving help
• Small-engine, bike, boat and vehicle repair
• Tutoring, lessons, music lessons
• Pet sitting, dog walking, house sitting
• Sewing, alterations, crafts, photography of property or events

Rules for services

• If the law requires a license, permit or insurance for the work (for example electrical, plumbing, HVAC, massage therapy or childcare), you must have it and say so in your listing.
• Describe what you will do, roughly what it costs or what you’ll accept in trade, and the area you serve.
• Services must be performed by you or your own business, not resold from someone else.
• Personal-care services must be clearly non-sexual and professional.

4. Never allowed

These are not allowed anywhere on ShareWeaver: in titles, descriptions, “trade for” notes, want lists, usernames, profile names or photos.

Sexual content and services

• Offering, asking for, or trading sex acts, sexual favors or any sexual service, including as payment or part of a trade
• Nude, sexual or explicit photos or videos, or links to them, including adult-content subscriptions
• Escort, “companionship” or “sugar” arrangements, or anything that suggests prostitution
• Adult or sexual products

Firearms, tobacco, alcohol and drugs

These can’t be sold, traded, bartered, given away, or offered or requested as part of any deal on ShareWeaver:

• Firearms of any kind, including rifles, shotguns, handguns and antique firearms, plus gun parts that make a firearm work (such as receivers)
• Ammunition of any kind, including bullets, shells, cartridges, primers and gunpowder
• Cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, dip and other tobacco, and nicotine or vaping products
• Alcohol of any kind, including beer, wine, liquor and homemade alcohol
• Illegal drugs, including marijuana and THC products, and drug paraphernalia
• Prescription drugs and other pharmaceutical drugs and medicines, including leftover or unused prescriptions

Everyday items that only share a name are fine, such as glue guns, nail guns, wine glasses, beer signs, cigar-box guitars and prescription eyeglasses.

Other prohibited items and services

• Anything illegal to sell, possess or do where you or the buyer live
• Stolen goods, or items with removed or altered serial numbers
• Explosives, and weapons that are illegal where you are
• Medical devices that require a prescription
• Live animals
• Recalled products, counterfeit or knockoff branded goods
• Personal data, accounts, gift cards sold above face value, or financial schemes
• Hate, harassment, threats, or scams of any kind

5. Trading and meeting up

• ShareWeaver connects neighbors; the deal is between you and the other person. We don’t hold payments and we aren’t a party to your trade.
• Meet in a public, well-lit place during the day. Many police departments offer safe exchange spots.
• Inspect items before paying or trading. Never send money or gift cards to someone you haven’t met.
• For vehicles, check the title and VIN, and complete the transfer the way your state requires.

6. Price estimates

Value estimates are made by an AI appraiser from your photo and details. They are a starting point, not an appraisal or a guarantee, and can be wrong. You decide your own asking price.

7. Your privacy

• Full photos stay on your phone. When you list an item, only a small thumbnail is shared.
• Your email and phone number are never shown on listings or shop pages. They are shared only with law enforcement if you use ShareWeaver for illegal activity (see section 8).
• Your ZIP code or one-time location is used only for the miles filter. Other people see a rough distance and your town, never your exact location.
• Photos you analyze are sent to Google Gemini to produce the estimate. Listing text, services, wants and public listing photos are also sent to Google Gemini to check them against these rules.

8. How we enforce these rules

• What we keep on file. Your account is linked to your email address, phone number and ZIP code, and we record the IP address you sign up and sign in from. We also keep your listings, want list, and a record of any posts our system blocked.
• Automatic screening. Before a listing, service, want or listing photo is saved, it is checked by automated filters and by Google Gemini AI. Anything that appears to break these rules is rejected, never shown to anyone, and recorded for review.
• Illegal activity. If you use or try to use ShareWeaver for anything illegal, including selling or trading prohibited items, offering sexual services, fraud, theft or threats, we will permanently close your account and ban you from ShareWeaver for life, and we will report you to law enforcement. We will share the information on file, including your email, phone number, ZIP code, IP addresses, listings and blocked posts, with police and other authorities.
• Child exploitation. Anything involving the sexual exploitation of a minor is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement.
• Other rule breaks. For other violations, we may remove listings, wants or profiles, and suspend or close accounts, at our discretion.
• No new accounts after a ban. If your account is banned, you may not create another one. Bans can apply to your email address, phone number, name and IP address.

9. The legal part

• ShareWeaver is provided “as is,” without warranties. We don’t inspect items, verify users, or guarantee any trade, service, estimate or listing.
• To the extent the law allows, ShareWeaver isn’t liable for losses from trades, services, meetups, or content posted by users.
• You agree to follow all laws that apply to you, including tax, licensing and safety laws.
• These terms are not legal advice. If you need legal advice, talk to a lawyer.
• We may update these rules. If the changes are important, we’ll let you know in the app. Continuing to use ShareWeaver means you accept the updated rules.

10. Contact and reporting

To report a listing or a person, or to ask a question, email support@shareweaver.com.

If you see anything involving the sexual exploitation of a child, you can also report it directly to NCMEC at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.

11. Membership, payments, messages and video

• $1 membership (coming soon). Accounts are free. A $1 card membership is coming soon; it is not live and no one is charged today. When it launches, members can use Reveal name if both people on a deal agree. The membership fee is not payment for any item.
• In-app payouts (coming soon). Card payments in the app are not live. When they are, sellers will be paid to their bank through Stripe Connect: the seller opens a Stripe Express account, Stripe verifies identity and links the bank, and ShareWeaver never holds your bank password. ShareWeaver’s fee on sales paid in the app will be 2.5% of the item price. Stripe’s own processing fees may apply separately, and we’ll show the exact fees before you turn payouts on.
• Cash and trades are still allowed. You can always meet locally and pay cash or trade. ShareWeaver charges no fee on cash or trades.
• Messaging. Use in-app messages. Don’t put your phone number on a listing; messages with phone numbers, emails or links are blocked. No sexual content, threats, or arranging prohibited items or services. We may review messages that are reported to us. We are not a party to your deal.
• Video. Video chat is not live. When premium video launches it will be in-app and for members, and we don’t promise that calls are recorded.

Will I see the other person’s real name?

Not on public listings. After paid signup, both sides on a deal can choose to share the name on the card we charged. An optional third-party report may be offered later. Reports can be wrong. Meet in public. This is not live yet.
