Charitable redistribution of surplus goods
Application for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status is pending.
ShareWeaver 501(c)(3) is a separate nonprofit organization created to help communities move unused household goods to people who need them, including the unhoused and working poor. It operates independently from the for-profit ShareWeaver marketplace.
ShareWeaver 501(c)(3) operates in the United States only.
What we do
- Enable closed groups (churches, civic organizations, and similar) to trade surplus items among their own members.
- Facilitate pure gifts of tangible goods to individuals sponsored by verified intermediaries (parents, pastors, social workers, or registered helping organizations).
- Keep all activity limited to goods only — no services or labor exchanges.
Arm’s-length relationship with the marketplace
ShareWeaver LLC (the for-profit company) and ShareWeaver 501(c)(3) are separate entities with:
- Different governing boards
- Separate bank accounts and financial records
- A written agreement covering the charity’s use of the app tools
Commercial sales stay with the LLC. Donations and charitable distributions stay with the 501(c)(3). Users see clear labeling of which organization is involved in any listing or transaction.
Board of Directors
We are inviting leaders from religious and community organizations across the country to serve on the founding Board of Directors. Board members help set the charity’s policies, oversee its charitable purpose, and ensure the program remains focused on local redistribution of goods.
If you lead a church, ministry, or community organization and are interested in learning more about a board role, contact us at support@shareweaver.com.
How donations work
Once 501(c)(3) status is granted, monetary and qualifying in-kind donations will be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Until recognition is received, we cannot promise a tax deduction.
Item gifts are coordinated through parent accounts (for minors) or verified adult intermediaries. The platform does not arrange in-person meetings.
Community Rules
All charity and closed-group activity follows the Community Rules. These include parent-controlled minor accounts, intermediary requirements for outside-group gifts, and a strict goods-only policy.
